Frequently Asked Questions

Why Kairos Outside?

Kairos Outside is designed to support the families of men and women who are or have been incarcerated in the County, State and Federal Correctional facilities, as well as youth offender programs. The spouses, parents, and other relatives of the incarcerated often “do time” right along with their loved ones. It is important for them to know that there is a Christian community who cares. This support is provided in a safe environment with Christian people during this Kairos Outside weekend. During the weekend, the guests will have a chance to interact with other women who are in similar situations and learn how to form small groups to support and give strength in their life’s journey.

The Weekend?

The Kairos Outside weekend is designed for Christian and non-Christian guests. This weekend differs from other renewal weekends in Christian denominations. Most of these guests are dealing with rejection, isolation, brokenness, financial hardship, and loneliness. The activities are relevant to the thoughts, concerns and feelings of an incarcerated person’s loved one.

Women who did not have an opportunity to attend a Kairos Weekend while incarcerated may also attend. Any adult female 20 years old, or older, whose life has been impacted by the incarceration of relatives/friends, is eligible to attend a Kairos Outside Weekend.  This program IS NOT limited to those women whose relatives/friends have attended a Kairos Weekend. The weekend is NOT coed.
